We had a client come to us the other day and say “Here’s what I want to do.”
His is a coaching based business, but he wanted to expand his offerings from a book to a DIY course, to a laser coaching offer, to a high ticket offer that included a peer group community, and he wanted to know what kind of infrastructure he needed in order to be able to facilitate that to a range of prospects that include targeted LinkedIn connections, email lists from a number of joint venture partners, promotions through targeted social media, speaking engagements and podcast interviews and, probably at a later date, targeted paid advertising.
Here is the tech stack that we recommended for that, and why.
Stripe – for payments
HeartBeat/ – a community platform where people can access content at different levels.
TidyCal – so clients can book laser coaching calls
Fathom – AI notetaker to provide after-call summaries
Stripe – for payments.
Stripe integrates with most online software and makes payments easy.
HeartBeat for group coaching, courses, community
Starting at $40 per month for up to a 2000 member community, it has some excellent inbuilt functionality that is perfect for what he is looking to do.
HeartBeat is excellent in terms of being able to have discrete areas for different levels of membership, especially where you don’t want the different tiers to have access to members in a different tier.
For example, having the ability for his high ticket coachees to be able to interact with each other as a peer group who can learn from each other was very important to him. But he did not want the lower tier course takers or laser coaching level to have access to those high ticket members.
HeartBeat can easily be set up to make that possible.
HeartBeat can also have courses set up for people to purchase, either as an upsell or downsell.
HeartBeat allows for Zoom calls to be set up as, say, a weekly or monthly event , such as an Open Office Hours (like Solo Biz Hacker has), or to deliver content etc. Members can even set up video calls through the system so they can talk to each other, depending on the functionality you are providing at the different levels of membership.
HeartBeat even lets you set up Groups so that members can access specific content they are interested in.
And they are adding functionality to the platform all the time. For the price, we don’t think you can beat it as a community platform – which is why we use it ourselves, of course. Once he gets to more than 2000 members, he can get an unlimited membership plan for only $108 per month – and that will be a great problem to have!
Online Calendar – TidyCal
The other thing he will need is an Online Calendar so that his Laser Coaching clients can book calls with him. For this we recommend TidyCal. For a $39 one-time fee – that’s right, not $39 per month – $39 one-time payment! You get a lot of advanced calendar features for your money, including group bookings, custom availability, customizable email reminders, an embeddable booking page, csv download, etc etc. Great value for money!
And finally, he wanted to be able to provide a call recording and summary of each of his laser coaching calls and, for this, we recommend Fathom. The free version gives you most everything you need – summaries are available within 30 seconds of the call ending, which is amazing in itself, plus it has a feature where you can send that summary to all attendees (ie. for group meetings), with one-click. There is a paid version where you can get extra features, such as having it write the coaching summary email for you etc. But for most users, the free version has everything you will need!
So, for only $80 for the first month and $40 per month thereafter, this client has everything he needs in terms of a technology platform to deliver his course, deliver laser coaching – where they can sign up for a call and get a video recording and transcription and summary of that call. At the same time, he can deliver high-ticket coaching, with a peer group community, that is isolated from the other levels of membership – all from the same platform.
That is a very sophisticated, multi-level coaching system that does not need to be either complicated to operate, or expensive to maintain.
